Proofs Form

This page used to be a standalone proof-submission form when HotPrintsUSA operated its own print shop. That workflow moved to 55printing.com in September 2015, and it now works differently: instead of visiting a separate page to request a proof, you choose the proof option directly inside the product order form when you place your order, and the proof itself arrives by email afterward. There is nothing to fill out here ahead of time.

How proofs actually work now

Every product order form at 55printing.com has a Design Proof option, usually a choice between “No Proofs Needed, Please Print!” and “FREE human manual Review + Proofs.” If you pick the proof option, a person reviews your uploaded file for the specific product and size you ordered, then emails a PDF proof to the address on your order for you to approve before production begins. If you pick print-as-is, your file goes straight to production once payment clears.

What a proof review actually catches

  • Wrong page size or orientation, where the uploaded file does not match the product dimensions you selected.
  • Missing bleed, which shows up as thin white lines along the trimmed edge after cutting.
  • Low-resolution images, especially photos pulled from a website that look sharp on screen but blur badly once printed at a larger size.
  • Panel order problems on folded pieces, like a brochure panel or phone number landing directly on a fold line.
  • Accidental blank pages or duplicate uploads, which are easy to miss when you are moving fast on a multi-page document.

A proof does not check spelling, grammar, or whether your offer makes sense; it checks whether the file will print the way it looks like it should. Read your own copy carefully before uploading, because that part is still on you.

How long a proof adds to your order

The free digital proof option typically adds a business day or so to your production timeline, since a person has to look at the file and you have to approve it before printing starts. If you are on a tight deadline and confident your file is correct (right size, correct bleed, high-resolution images, proofed copy), print-as-is skips that step and moves straight to production. If you are at all unsure, the extra day is almost always worth it, since fixing a mistake before a full print run is far cheaper than reprinting after the fact.

When you should choose the proof option

Choose the proof option whenever the file is complex (multi-panel brochures, anything with tight bleed, a first-time template you built yourself), whenever the order is large enough that a mistake would be expensive to reprint, or whenever you are not fully confident in your own file setup. Skip the proof only on simple, repeat orders where you have printed the exact same file successfully before and know it works.
